About the Editor
Si Dunn edits this blog and is one of its contributing writers. He is a novelist, screenwriter, technical writer, photojournalist, book reviewer, and author of nonfiction books. His published works include Dark Signals, Erwin’s Law, and Jump. Dark Signals, a Vietnam War memoir, is drawn from his days as a radio operator aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Tonkin Gulf and South China Sea during 1964 and 1965. Erwin’s Law is a detective novel; a retired mystery book reviewer named Erwin Tennyson is the investigator. And Jump is an experimental novella that focuses on some after-effects of PTSD. Dunn also has written two books of poetry: Anchoring and Waiting for Water (available used in paperback on Amazon). A native of Mississippi, he grew up in Arkansas, and has lived in Texas since the late 1960s. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas.
Previously, he was a photojournalist for a number of newspapers and magazines. He also spent about 15 years in software development, working primarily as a technical writer but also doing software testing, and some programming.
Book Review Policy
This blog is not paid by publishers to review and tout their books. And Sagecreek Productions LLC does not guarantee to publish a review about a particular book. The editor explains: “If we don’t like a book, we will not review it here. Writing a book requires significant time, effort, and expense, whether it is good or not. We do not like to trash other writers’ efforts.” The book review goal for this blog is to offer “what we believe are honest assessments and provide useful information to readers seeking particular types of books. Sometimes we may offer a few critical comments, but mostly, we strive to provide useful information that can help a reader decide to purchase a book–or not.”
Si Dunn adds: “We do receive sample book copies from publishers, and we are under no obligation to publish reviews of any of those books. Indeed, we review only the books that we want to review, and we try to assess how well we think the books meet the goals set forth by their writers.”
Publishers may mail printed books for possible review (no promises!) to: Si Dunn, Sagecreek Productions LLC, 3616 Far West Blvd., Suite 117-131, Austin, TX 78731-3082. Generally, ebooks are not reviewed on this blog, but exceptions may be made in a few instances.
